Seven-Day Itinerary for Eastern Andalucía

Day 1- Almeria
  • 11:00 am Visit the Alcabaza
  • 1:00 pm See the Wall of Jairan
  • 2:00 pm Lunch
  • 4:30 pm Visit the Cathedral in the city’s old town quarter
  • 7:00 pm Go to Aguadulce for dinner and a hotel

Day 2- Almeria
  • 9:00 am Breakfast
  • 10:30 am Visit the Museum of Almeria
  • 12:00 pm Lunch
  • 1:30 pm Cabo de Gata National Park—This national park contains many amazing beaches. We will stay here for the rest of the day!

Day 3- Granada
  • 7:00 am Leave hotel in Almeria and have breakfast on the way to Salobreña
  • 10:00 am Walk along the shore and visit Salobreña’s Castle
  • 12:00 pm Catch the bus to Granada and check into hostel
  • 1:30 pm Get lunch on the way to the Cathedral
  • 3:00 pm Siesta
  • 7:00 pm Walk through the Albaicin to Sacromonte
  • 9:00 pm Dinner and a flamenco show in Las Cuevas
  • 11:30 pm Go to El Camborio

Day 4- Granada
  • 5:30 am Leave El Camborio and get some coffee
  • 7:30 am Catch a bus to the ski slopes at the Sierra Nevada’s
  • 3:00 pm Come back to Granada for a siesta
  • 6:00 pm Make our way up to La Alhambra to see the General Life Gardens and Palace
  • 9:00 pm Go out for tapas and go to Mae West for a night out on the town!

Day 5- Jaen
  • Arrive in Jaen, check into Hotel Europa
  • Walk to Saint Catalina’s Castle, old Moorish fortress that a castle was built on top of
  • After castle get lunch, eat typical Jaen food, pipirrana (tomato, green peppers, breadcrumbs, garlic shoots, olive oil, vinegar, salt and hard-boiled egg) and gachas of Jaen
  • Once lunch is finished we are going on an olive oil tour, Jaen produces the most olive oil in Spain
  • After the olive oil tour we will go out for tapas and drinks

Day 6- Jaen
  • Today we will go to the two world heritage cities in Jaen that are known for the Italian renaissance style architecture
  • First stop Ubeda where we will visit the Vazquez de Molina Square and view the Holy Chapel of the Savior
  • After Ubeda we will travel to Baeza
  • In Baeza we will visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria, originally a Moorish compound and later changed into a cathedral

Day 7- Córdoba
On our final day we will be visiting Córdoba, which is the capital city of the province Córdoba. Córdoba is a typical Moorish city that features many important buildings including several monasteries, churches, and museums. The Great Mosque, which is one of the largest sacred buildings in the Islamic world, is where we will begin our tour. It features more than 850 pillars that are made of jasper, onyx, marble and granite. After our tour of the Great Mosque, we will eat lunch at Bodegas Mezquita, which features a variety of traditional Spanish dishes, as well 13 different types of olive oil. In the afternoon we will explore the narrow cobblestone streets of the Jewish Quarter. After visiting the Jewish Quarter we will return to the hotel, Hotel Cordoba Palacio for a few hours before we have dinner at Bodegas Campos, which is a local favorite. Once we are finished with dinner, we will walk over to Tablao Cardenal, which is one of Cordoba’s most popular flamenco clubs. After the show you can either go out or return to the hotel!
